Until recently I really had no idea how much the Church relied on my family’s annual pledge. I always assumed that a church of this stature would have income streams beyond parishioners’ giving–an endowment, other investments–to support the programs, clergy, and grounds.
Ninety-three percent of the CHS budget is funded through the annual pledges of parishioners. Last year Vestry was forced to make cuts to the CHS budget, including outreach programs and ministries that we all value, due to an underwhelming response to the annual appeal.
We live in a generous community, and many wonderful charities call on us regularly to help. Why make CHS a priority? On a personal level, my family gives because we belong to this church. Investing in CHS builds our connection to a community that grounds us and brings perspective and joy to our lives. We give because CHS is a responsible steward of our contribution each year, spending cautiously and wisely on programs and staff that we believe make a difference in people’s lives.
CHS deserves our full support. Join us in making a pledge this year.
